You know we love our patterns, especially plaid! Buffalo check is one of our all time favorite plaid patterns, however, in this month’s Fashion vs. Interiors post we are looking at the traditional Tartan plaid pattern. Although we enjoy using this pattern throughout the year in our wardrobe and interiors, we are particularly drawn to it during the holiday season. You can always count on plaid to add a festive touch to your home and outfit. Plaid is such a classic pattern that can be added to your wardrobe in a variety of ways. Whether it’s a plaid top, blazer, skirt or scarf, the opportunities are endless. During the holiday season we like to play around with the more red patterned plaids however, during the rest of the year we can count on our more neutral colored plaid patterns to do the trick. We love bringing this pattern into the home because it adds a warm touch to any space, no matter the application. If you are looking to use plaid within your home throughout the year, opt for a more neutral colored pattern. Lighter plaids are more versatile and won’t make you feel like you’re getting ready to celebrate Christmas. One of our favorite ways to use plaid within the home is through wallpaper. We like to incorporate patterned wallpapers to smaller spaces (such as a powder bathroom, laundry room or mud room) to add a fun and surprising touch to a space that is sometimes considered an afterthought. Easier ways to incorporate plaid is through throw pillows and blankets. These items can easily be swapped out and do not require a great deal of commitment. During the holiday season you can switch out your pillows and throws for the more red and green plaids for a more holiday feel!
