We LOVE wallpaper... how could you not? Using wallpaper is an easy way to transform a space by adding excitement and personality. There is such a variety of beautiful patterns, colors and styles to choose from when trying to find the perfect wallpaper. Whether you are looking to go bolder and create a specific focal point within a room or just want to add a subtle hint of texture within your home, there is a wallpaper for you. We love using wallpaper to add depth and make a statement... plus its pretty! Here are some of our favorite ways to use patterned wallpaper.
Make a statement by applying wallpaper to only one accent wall.
You don’t have to add wallpaper to all of the walls in a room to make an impact. Sometimes accenting just one specific wall is a better route and allows you to use a more bold pattern without being too overwhelming. You can also use this technique with more subtle and delicate wallpaper patterns to add a slight visual texture and help break up the space. Also, if your budget is tight, accenting one wall rather than the whole room will be more cost effective and can be used as an alternate for artwork.
Wallpaper in a small space is less of a commitment.
Do you love wallpaper, but are afraid to commit? If you are hesitant to use wallpaper in one of your more prominent spaces, a smaller room is a good place to start. Wallpaper used in smaller spaces such as powder rooms, laundry rooms or mudrooms is always effective, and gives you a chance to be creative! Using a bold pattern in a smaller space is typically more successful and will make the space feel more energized and personal.
Fun Accent inside a niche or cabinet interior.
Do you have a built-in bookcase, cabinet or wall niche in your home? Adding a patterned wallpaper to the interior of these elements is a great opportunity to add visual interest without overpowering the room. We just love the idea of adding a fun pattern or color inside a cabinet or furniture piece. This creates such a beautiful accent and really makes the piece feel more special.
Highlight spaces with an unexpected surprise.
We are huge fans of using wallpaper in non-conventional places. A touch of wallpaper is such a fun way to dress up a space and make it feel more important. By applying wallpaper to a ceiling, inside a closet, or in a nursery for example, you really help draw attention to the space in an unexpected way.
